A Glasgow Photoshoot
We collaborated on a photoshoot this month with some fabulous pals/suppliers (all detailed below) at West Brewery in Glasgow.
The sun came out for a few hours and shone through the large industrial windows and Lena got some amazing shots. So glad I decided to take along some of our beaded wedding dresses as the beads and sequence looked fabulous in the light.
All dresses are detailed below and of course all dresses and accessories are available to try on in our Merchant City boutique by making an appointment HERE.
Gillian is wearing the Eddy K Fabiola dress is champagne (available in Ivory)
Lori is wearing the Sottero & Midgley Grady dress.
Hannah is wearing the Rosa Clara Vega dress in Pewter (available in all Ivory)
Gillian is wearing the Rosa Clara Katarina dress in pale gold (also available in Ivory)

Hannah is wearing the Eddy K Ella dress in Ivory,
Huge thank you to our lovely Models Gillian, Lori and Hannah who were fantastic on the day especially since it was Lori and Hannah’s first ever photohoot! They all posed for hours without a single complaint and looked absolutely beautiful in our dresses.
We all know that hair and makeup are one of the most important parts of a photoshoot (and your wedding day) and Leigh Blaney and Gillian Cleminson of Pin Up Hair are absolutely amazing at what they do. I’ve worked with both of these ladies before and they’re talented, professional and great fun - what more could you want on your wedding day!
The very lovely Lena Sabala was the photographer on this shoot and Lena’s work is just amazing, you should check out her portfolio of work HERE.
Thanks again to West on the Green for the use of their beautiful event space.

Kendra & Lorraine
We have been bursting at the seams to share these images with you all!
Not only is it a belter of a wedding with two brides (which means two dresses-yay!!) but it’s also the wedding of our very own Kendra - who is the weekend stylist here, at Melle Cloche!
Kendra married Lorraine at the end of last year after bringing their wedding forward by a full year - they decided to cancel their original venue and suppliers and organised the wedding in about 6 months.
They realised they wanted a relaxed, fun day with their closest family and friends and that’s exactly what they got!
Kendra came up with the idea of doing their dress reveal at the shop as they didn’t want to do it in a cramped hotel room or at home. Our downstairs private bridal area was the perfect place to do a reveal - the large changing room can be spit into two so we had a bride on each side, champagne on ice and lots of fun!
It was such a magical day for us all and so lovely to share such a special moment.
Now for the dresses…
Kendra (left) chose a stunning champagne coloured two-piece from the Amelie collection by Sottero and Midgley - the beaded spaghetti strap top and simple tulle skirt were just the perfect pair. She finished her look off with the Intrique veil, gold accessories and fabulous leopard print Jimmy Choos!
Lorraine (right) opted for the breathtaking Raquelle dress from the Grayson collection by Sottero and Midgley. The Raquelle dress is a chic crepe fishtail with serious wow factor. Lorraine kept her look simple with silver accessories and ivory heels.
Both brides then took to the streets of Glasgow with the amazing David Grant Simpson and spent a couple of hours with each other before their early evening ceremony.
Their intimate ceremony was officiated by both Susan and Geri Douglas-Scott, the first gay couple to legally marry in Scotland. They then celebrated into the wee small hours with their closest family and friends.
We can vouch for a fantastic night and a few sore heads the next day!
Kendra and Lorraine’s beautiful bridesmaid Lynn wore the Claudia dress in Emerald Green.

Rewritten Collection - 2019
We’re so excited to tell you that the latest styles from bridesmaid brand Rewritten have finally arrived in-store!
The Rewritten brand launched in 2016 with friends Katie Arnott and Frances Cookson, who, frustrated by the choice of bridesmaid dresses out there, decided to create their own - lucky us!
The Rewritten collection is for girls that are looking for a more simple and effortless style so a bit less formal than most bridesmaid dresses out there.
Here’s our favourite picks from the new collection…
THE BERLIN DRESS
Say hi to the Berlin dress, a floor length dress with a square neckline, adjustable bow tie straps and subtle side split. Just a little bit fitted at the waist for a flattering look, the Berlin is one hell of a sophisticated dress with a column silhouette skirt, centre back zip and shoulder ties that can be worn in a multitude of ways.
Price - £140
The Soho Jumpsuit
One of our most exciting launches for 2019, the Soho Jumpsuit offers the ultimate in modern bridesmaids dressing. Featuring flowing wide leg palazzo trousers, darted waist detail, back of the neck key hole design, bow neck tie and finished with a flattering waist sash tie. You are sure to be the most stylish one at the party in this dream of a jumpsuit, those wide legs provide just the same amount of swishiness on the dancefloor as any dress.
Can we also just alert you to the fact this comes in Ivory - hello hen night outfit!
Price - £170
The Sydney Dress
Crafted in the most sumptuous of satins, the Sydney dress is a floor length bias cut camisole dress featuring a cross back and detachable waist sash tie detail. A plunging low back and v neck make for one hell of a beautiful dress. Single layered throughout and lined at the bust, wear with a heel and some attitude and you will be the star of the party.
Price - £140
The Prague Dress
The Prague is a real showstopper of a dress. Featuring a double layered crepe bias cut camisole dress with a lighter than air long sleeved chiffon bias cut overlay dress we defy you not to feel utterly glamorous when you put this on. Finished with soft neck tie detail and delicate button cuffs, this open back wonder is the ideal piece to take you from day to night.
Price - £250
So what’s different about this collection to the last?
Well there’s still that effortless chic style that Rewritten do so well but with a bit more sophistication thrown in this time. Less boho vibes with a more contemporary feel to the overall collection. The added details like side splits and low sexy backs give the styles a more grown-up feel and gives many options to wear the dresses to something fancy again after the wedding day is long gone - win, win!
We especially love the use of fabrics that Rewritten have incorporated into this collection, like crepe, chiffon and satin. (stay tuned for a a beaut of a velvet number arriving soon too!)
Their new colours will be a welcome addition to brides who have loved the Rewritten style in the past but not found the colour they’ve had their heart set on, so we’re so pleased to see that they’re now offering a wider choice and there’s definitely a colour in there to suit everyone.

Linsay & Craig
Linsay’s wedding has been featured on the fabulous We Fell in Love Blog this month so we thought we would share some beautiful images of her Glasgow wedding at West Brewery.
Linsay wore the Melrose Lynette dress from the Sottero & Midgley Amelie collection.
The Melrose Lynette dress is a chic fit-and-flare style featuring a lace illusion train and sleeves. The stunning crosshatch-patterned tulle covering the dress along with the ruched bum detail just makes it that little bit different and Linsay fell in love with the dress almost immediately after trying it on.
She told WFIL ‘My dress was an ivory coloured fit and flare dress. It had gorgeous sleeves that were sheer with lace at the top and at the wrist. The design was so intricate with flowers all over the body. On the skirt there were some gorgeous patterns that reminded me of a paisley pattern.
I tried on around 30 dresses and was nearly settling for something I wasn’t really sure on. I went to Melle Cloche to look at some accessories and decided I might as well try some dresses on. The dresses are of a really nice high quality and I was really pleased with the service. I fell in love with my dress as soon as I put it on. My mum and I knew it was the one straight away’
Linsay finished off her look with the Beauty full length veil and her Mum’s pearl and diamond jewellery.
Glasgow brewery, WEST was where Linsay and Craig had their first date, so seemed like an easy choice for their wedding.
Linsay told WFIL ‘Our venue, WEST was where we had our first date. It was the only place we considered getting married. It is such a stunning building and it holds great memories for us.
We went full throttle with the brewery theme. We combined pastel colours for the flower decor with the wooden beer kegs. We had lanterns and candles on the aisle for our ceremony. We had single flowers in small brown beer bottles on the tables at the reception’
‘The music at our ceremony was beautiful. Ginny & The Tonic were amazing and their voices are just stunning’
Have you seen a more perfect Glasgow evening!
Thank you to WFIL for sharing Linsay and Craig’s wedding and to John Clark Photography for these amazing images and of course to Linsay and Craig for sharing your beautiful day with us all.

We’re not long back from an amazing buying trip to the lovely city of Barcelona where we picked some fabulous dresses from the 2020 Rosa Clara Soft collection.
This is a small sneak peek of the 2020 collection as Rosa Clara are strictly no-show until launch but we can tell you that the 2020 collection is a beautiful mix of beading, embroidered lace, silk chiffon and inticate detailing with full skirts and trains.
We were treated by the lovely people at Rosa Clara to a beautiful meals and drinks in the centre of Barcelona, where we met other fabulous stockists from all over Europe and even met the talented woman herself!
There may also have been alcohol…
Who says leopard print isn’t a neutral?
We can’t forget to mention that we had cake from the cutest little cake shop on La Rambla.
Thank you Holly and the Rosa Clara team for a fantastic trip and we can’t wait until the new samples arrive because you 2020 brides are going to LOVE!

Nadia & Gary
It was so lovely to see Nadia and her lovely family again when she came for her bridal appointment last year. We first met these lovely women a good few years ago in our old Byres Road shop, when Sheree (Nadia’s big sister) came in for her shoes and accessories for her own wedding.
When Nadia tried on the Allan dress at her appointment she pretty much loved it right away and when the curtain went back and her sisters and Auntie saw her in it, there was an overwhelming agreement that this was her dress.
It doesn’t happen like that a lot, but when it does it’s lovely!
Nadia and Gary had a very stylish city centre wedding at 29 Glasgow and her beautiful bridesmaids were in our Salma and Taylor dresses in the colour Oyster which complimented the cool and sophisticated feel of the whole day.
Thank you Nadia & Gary for allowing us to share your perfect day and thanks to In The Name of Love Photography for capturing it so beautifully.

Lesley & Mark
We're sharing the wedding of Lesley & Mark today who got married at Kinlochard Village Hall in April of this year.
Lesley wore a stunning top and skirt from the Sottero and Midgley Amelie collection.
The exquisite Rosella strapless bodice was encrusted with Swarovski beads and complimented the light floaty Ashby skirt perfectly.
Lesley & Mark's wedding was captured beautifully by the talented Solen Photography.
Rosa Clara
We're so excited to reveal that the latest label to arrive at Melle Cloche is world renowned Spanish designer Rosa Clara.
The Rosa Clará Collections are the result of her dream, a dream that goes back to 1995 when, after working for several years in the bridal world, Rosa realised that the sector was missing one of its essential defining traits: fashion. Rosa knew then that she had something important to do - to contribute more creativity, bring more innovation, and above all, more design flair to the sector.
And after years of hard work and keeping focused on her dream, her first successes started to happen. Filled with great hope, new ideas, and relying on her creativity and careful care to detail, Rosa has been able to create beautiful and innovative collections that have captivated international markets. Rosa Clará knows she couldn't have not done this alone: the largest part of her success is attributable to her brides, who seek quality, high design style, and craftsmanship.
Rosa Clara lauched their 2019 collection at Barcelona Bridal week earlier this year and the collection is filed with original backs, pronounced necklines, details carefully inserted in the dresses, skirts of great volume and subtle transparencies that will make you fall in love.
Our top picks from the Rosa Clara Soft collection will be arriving in-store July 2018.
Call or email to book in.

Charlotte Tilbury Event
We thought we'd share some highlights from our Charlotte Tilbury Bridal Masterclass that we had in-store last week.
There was Prosecco, cakes, wedding chat, makeovers, and lots of laughs - it was a rather fabulous night.
Sottero & Midgley Ariya
We took a day out last week to do a road trip to see the new Ariya collection from Sottero & MIdgley.
The Ariya collection is channeling old Hollywood glamour and sophistication and gives brides the drama they are looking for. The use of luxe fabrics like shimmering crosshatch tulle, lace, crepe and mikado give variety and added hints of Swarovski crystals and beads cascading over the beautiful fabrics give all the glamour.
The new collection will be in-store by summer 2018 but keep an eye on our events page for the next Sottero and Midgley designer weekend!
Bridesmaid Shopping.
We were asked by Tie The Knot magazine recently what questions brides most often ask when they come for a bridesmaid appointment. It was for an article they were doing as a guide to 'bridesmaid dress shopping' and I thought maybe it would help if we gave some brides a few pointers on here.
Firstly it's quite a different experience from buying your own dress - you’re no longer just focusing on yourself but a whole girl gang and instead of maybe just your Mum or Sister’s opinions, you have do deal with different personalities, taste preferences and body shapes. Luckily, many of the tougher parts of the experience can be easily eliminated
with a little foresight.
Some helpful Do’s and Dont’s
Do - have an idea of the shade you want or at least have a colour pallet in mind - if you’re unsure then giving your consultant as much info as possible about your venue, flowers, kilts etc can help her make suggestions for you.
Don’t - make your bridesmaid wear a colour that they need to slather masses of fake tan on for - it may sound obvious but putting a pale red head in a pale nude colour and hoping a spray tan will make her look better, the chances are it probably won’t!
Do - remember that lots of bridesmaid dresses need altered and there will be a cost on top of buying the dress. Also bare in mind that some designers may charge extra for longer length and for dresses ordered over a size UK18. (ask your consultant for more info on this)
Don’t - think that you have to have the whole bridal party with you on your first day out, if you think it will be too stressful then it can be easier to just initially bring a couple of girls to try on and then bring everyone back to see your faves.
Do - make it fun for you and them and arrange lunch and even a few cocktails between appointments. Well you’ve got to keep their strength up!
FAQ's
Q - What do I do if my bridesmaid is pregnant?
A - There’s no doubt about it, It's difficult to shop for a pregnant bridesmaid especially when you have no idea how big they're actually going to be by the time the wedding comes along. Not only is it important to pick a dress that can accommodate a baby bump but its important to make your bridesmaid feel comfortable and still look her best. Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of dresses that lend well to a growing bump, some girls will order a dress in a few sizes bigger and hope for the best but it's all really guess work and can cost the bride a lot on alterations when the dress still doesn’t fit. One of the best dresses to buy for your bridesmaids is our Twobirds dresses - not only are they fantastic for pregnant girls but because it’s one sized it means that any change in size of your bridesmaids (be it bigger or smaller) then the dress will always fit.
Q - What do I do if my bridesmaids don't agree on the dress?
A - It’s important to get input from your bridesmaids, after all they’re the ones wearing the dress and every bride wants their bridesmaids to be happy. It’s also your day and ultimately your choice so a bridesmaid should suck it up and wear what you choose but if you would rather have happy bridesmaids in a dress they love then a great option is to let your bridesmaids choose their own style from a cohesive collection in the same colour. Our dress ranges by Ghost and Rewritten offer different cuts and styles to suit all body shapes but in the same fabric and colour which gives a modern feel to your bridal party and lets each bridesmaid express her own style.
Q - What dress do I put my teenage bridesmaid in?
A - This is always a difficult one for brides, especially if the girl is too old to be a flower girl but too young to be a ‘proper’ bridesmaid. Some bridesmaid dresses can be just too sophisticated and glamorous for a young girl so it’s important to keep it young and fresh - a good way to do this is to tweak a bridesmaid dress to give it a ‘younger feel’ Adding straps onto a strapless dress can make it much more age appropriate or cutting a full length dress to just below the knee can give your junior bridesmaid a cute look next to your floor length bridesmaid dresses (we're always happy to make suggestions) Leaving hair down with a bouncy curl and minimal make-up will keep it fresh and why not put them in a pair of converse to let them be totally comfortable.
Let us know if there's anything you want to know or us to help with - we'd love to hear from you -or make an appointment to try on our beautiful range of bridesmaid dresses from designers Twobirds, Ghost, Rewritten, Bari-Jay and Angel.

HAVE A FANTASTIC CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR!
Steffi & Rob
Our beautiful bride Steffi tied the knot at The Secret Herb Garden in Edinburgh earlier this year wearing wearing one of our dresses from the Ti Adora collection in blush which was designed by Alvina Valenta.
As you’d expect this wedding is just brimming with plants, foliage, flowers and more greenery than you can imagine so we fell in love with it - I mean have you seen our shop?
Steffi's bridesmaids wore our Twobirds dresses in the tulle fabric and opted for the Sage Green colour which is a match made in heaven at this venue.
Steffi's wedding featured in the amazing Rock My Wedding Blog and here's what she said about choosing her dress from Melle Cloche.
'I went dress shopping with two of my oldest friends, who I knew my style and would give me an honest opinion. When I went into Melle Cloche in Glasgow, sisters Jac and Lisa made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. We browsed the rails and I picked out 5 dresses – and it turned out they were all the same designer! I clearly had a style. I tried on a few but when I found out that Ti Adora were having a trunk show later with all their collection I booked straight back in. I ended up with the first dress I tried on, except in an incredible blush tone. It was the one. My bridesmaids dresses were also from Melle Cloche. I wanted something that would suit them all, and would suit a pregnant bridesmaid too! So the two birds dresses were exactly what we needed.'
All the images were captured by The Hendrys and you can see the full wedding featured over on Rock My Wedding
